What’s the next best thing to dreaming of a White Christmas in Puerto Peñasco? Well, because the weather is too warm for snow, how about keeping it more realistic? This weekend you have an opportunity to see a “Light Christmas” event on water. I’m talking about the Rocky Point Christmas 2024 boat parade.
This is a festive and fun event featuring a parade of boats brightly decorated with colorful light displays. The timing is perfect. It is the weekend before Christmas as well as taking place soon around the time the sun sets over the Sea of Cortez.
I can speak from experience. If you can get yourself onto a boat for this event, do so. The Christmas nautical parade in Rocky Point is a good time. My son and I were invited to board the Ecsta-Sea which does fishing charters. It is always exciting for me to see the Sonoran Sun Resort from the Sea of Cortez. Plus, you couldn’t help but getting into the Christmas spirit hearing music and seeing the other boats lit up for the occasion.
However, the most heartwarming memory was seeing the fireworks returning to the port. There were hundreds of people lined up along the shore waving their smartphones as flashlights to join in the show.
Christmas 2024 Boat Parade Confusion
Bah humbug! I sure don’t mean to take on the role of an Ebenezer Scrooge. That’s especially because the Christmas season is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. Regardless of my wishes, the bottom line is there is legitimate confusion surrounding the Rocky Point Christmas 2024 boat parade. It is all because there are now 2 nautical parade events, and they are taking place on the same weekend in Puerto Peñasco.
This scenario means there will be competing events one night apart when working together might be best interests of all. It shows even in a small town at Christmas, no, we can’t all just get along.
The Municipal Government of Puerto Peñasco just recently held a press conference to announce, “The First Official Christmas Festival Parade of Lights.” It is happening on Friday, December, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. The event is a collaboration between the city and the Rocky Point Fishing Club.
A few weeks earlier, promotion began for the 4th Annual Desfile Nautico Navideno. This event is brought to you by Nautical Services and the Cuentanos Peñasco. It will take place exactly 24 hours later on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
In both cases, you can see the decorated boats parading by from the Malecon, port area, Sandy Beach, and various local businesses. Having more than one small Rocky Point Christmas boat parade isn’t necessarily better. But it does give you two chances for a good time, especially if you cannot travel to Puerto Peñasco on Friday afternoon.
