Ingeniero Fernando X. Anaya Millan has passed away. His title was Director General of Sonoran Resorts. However, for the past 20 years in Puerto Peñasco, Fernando Anaya has really proven to be the heart and soul of the Sonoran Resorts team.
The passing of Fernando Anaya is particularly sad and even more stunning because of its extraordinary timing. He died on Tuesday, the very next day after the Sonoran Resorts name was hit with a major tragedy. On Monday night, two guests at the Sonoran Sea Resort were allegedly electrocuted in one of the two outdoor hot tubs. The Sonoran State Attorney General’s Office reported one man was killed in the tragic accident. A woman is now in a U.S. Hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
Did Fernando Anaya Die of a Broken Heart?
News spread quickly of the Monday evening nightmare at the Sonoran Sea Resort. Dozens of guests witnessed the traumatic event. Furthermore, a social media video showing the immediate aftermath of the accident went viral.
Rest assured the top executive of Sonoran Resorts found out within minutes what happened in that jacuzzi. Hours later, Fernando Anaya said he was having chest pains. His cause of death was cardiac arrest. However, it is one of those “cause and effect” medical emergencies you hear about. Like when an older deeply in love married couple dies within hours or days of each other. Hence, I cannot help but wonder if Fernando actually died of a broken heart.
Contrary to rumors, Fernando Anaya was not the man in charge of construction of the Sonoran Sea Resort. But no doubt, he was a man who cared passionately about his work as a professional.
Fernando Anaya at Sonoran Resorts
He joined Sonoran Resorts in 2004 after leaving Guerrero, Mexico, where he was CEO of the boating and tourism community Marina Ixtapa. By this time, the Sonoran Spa Resort and Sonoran Sea Resort were already completed projects.
In 2005, Fernando Anaya first showed his expertise in Rocky Point Mexico with the Sonoran Sun Resort opening. Using his hands-on leadership style, vision, creativity, and expertise, his development of the Sonoran Sun was done within budget. In addition, the resort was finished in less than half the time it took for the Sonoran Spa and Sonoran Sea.
His next project was the Sonoran Sky Resort on Sandy Beach. And at the time of his passing, he was deep into his biggest splash in Puerto Peñasco. Meanwhile, construction of the Sonoran Star Resort is currently in development.
Fernando Anaya was a smart and dedicated professional who cared deeply about his work. What he is clearly responsible for is creating beachfront condominium properties which enabled thousands of people to enjoy wonderful Rocky Point memories. We thank him for his valuable efforts at the Sonoran Sun Resort. He was just 58 years old and will be missed.
