Good for you, me, and best of all…good for the kiddos. Any time spent on the Esperanza Children’s Home near Puerto Peñasco is time well spent. So thank you for learning about this special place.
Its official name in Español is Esperanza para Los Niños. Or “Hope for the Children. Hope and help go hand in hand.
Together we can make a difference. Right here and now. Yes, there are many worthy ways to support the Rocky Point Mexico community. This local charity is one of them because it looks after children in dire need.
Esperanza – The Puerto Peñasco Orphanage
The Esperanza Children’s Home is commonly referred to as the “Rocky Point orphanage.” Since it was founded in 1985, its mission has developed a solid reputation over nearly 40 years. That is what happens when you provide children with safety, security, and love. It comes in various forms from food and drink to clothing and connection, empathy and education.
What does “Children in dire need” mean?
For starters, think about providing a safe home for survivors of traumatic experiences. Esperanza has rescued children who were homeless or might have been better off that way. Some children lost a parent or parents. Others were abused or neglected by them. Some were victims of violence and sexual abuse. And tragically, some young residents sheltered and supported at the Esperanza Children’s Home have survived all the above.
Home and Foundation
Any home without a solid foundation is seriously limited. So, the Esperanza Children’s Home instills Hope for the Children by way of teaching Christian values. They boost a belief in God and preach the power of prayer.
Furthermore, by example, their sacred acts of service provide a safe passage for transformation. Remember, these are children in dire need. Those who couldn’t see reaching tomorrow let alone making it to adulthood and contributing to a community or society.
Esperanza Children’s Home Location
There is a sign on the east side of Mexico Highway 8 between Sonoyta and Puerto Peñasco. You will find it just over 10 miles north of the bridge in and out Rocky Point.
Keep in mind, the house on the side of the road at the turn is not the Esperanza Children’s Home. You need to travel 3 miles down the dirt road and you will drive right into it. (There is also a location for teens and young adults within the city limits of Puerto Peñasco).
How You Can Help
There are multiple ways you can help the children at the Esperanza Children’s Home. Of course, monetary donations are welcome. But so are gifts in kind, such as food, clothing, etc. My son, Julian, and I donate bags full of quality clothing from time to time. I can assure you whatever you can do is always greatly appreciated.
