Breast cancer has indeed proven it does not discriminate. The disease can have a negative impact on anyone. People of all genders. Mexicans, Americans, Canadians, and more. However, the First Walk for Breast Cancer in Puerto Peñasco is much different. This is because it can and hopes to have a major positive impact on local residents.
Here is a look at the event details:
1. First and foremost, all monies collected in Rocky Point’s First Walk for Breast Cancer will go towards paying for 200 mammograms, medication, plus vouchers for travel and food vouchers to get healthcare services.
2. The new event will take place on the morning of Saturday, October 19, 2024. (However, the planners hope it becomes an annual event).
3. Registration for the 5 km (3. mile) walk begins at 7:00 a.m. at the Parque de la Madre. The walk starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at Shrimp Park (where the large statue is).
4. The cost is just a $10 usd donation or 200 mx. Regardless of whether you walk, you are welcome to show emotional and financial support to those who do.
Breast Cancer Walk – CAVIF Gestor de Servicios AC
Rocky Point Mexico’s First Walk for Breast Cancer is sponsored by a wonderful community-based organization. It is known around town as CAVIF AC. The group led by Katia Sánchez Valdez, serves an array of vulnerable segments of the local population. It began supporting victims of domestic violence. Furthermore, because of recognizing additional needs, it expanded into serving causes such as education, LGBTQ, and health and wellness.
As a showing of solidarity, everyone attending is asked to wear pink. Additionally, you are also invited to decorate a bra and wear it outside your top or shirt. This is a special request to honor and remember someone you know who has passed away, conquered, or is currently diagnosed with breast cancer. Following the walk, all bras will go to participating local artists because they will collaborate on a one-of-a-kind creation. Moreover, the new work of art will be donated as an upcoming Breast Cancer Breakfast raffle prize.
The timing and destination coordination is partly because the event organizers are working with the Mermaid Market. The two groups have partnered on joint promotion for getting out the word during October serving as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
