Thanksgiving 2024. It is one of the most celebrated holidays on the calendar. Throughout days like today, the mindset commonly talked about is “being thankful.” Sharing a turkey dinner feast with family and friends is the special on the day’s menu. However, taking a moment to give thanks for who and what we have on this day is widely practiced across the United States.
So, what does this have to do with Rocky Point Mexico? Well, if you saw what I witnessed yesterday, surely you would know.
Thanksgiving 2024 in Puerto Peñasco
I am not the only one who saw it. This because thousands of people had first-hand experience with it. I am referring to the holiday traffic. Granted, the volume was nowhere near the level of other American national holidays such as Labor Day Weekend or the 4th of July. However, Thanksgiving 2024 emphatically made the point.
Turkey day travels well to the land of tacos south of the border.
There is the usual online chatter about the trials and tribulations of transporting turkeys into Mexico. Yet, it is not even necessary anymore because you can buy them locally at stores such as Sam’s Club on Benito Juarez Boulevard. Furthermore, a growing number of Rocky Point restaurants are serving traditional Thanksgiving dinner on their menu.
Making Beach Memories
One of the reasons for the saying, “food is life” is because of the personal aspects of it. I whipped up a batch of turkey chili for our rental guests at Sonoran Sun 510 East. You would have thought it was a whole turkey because they appreciated it so much.
To them and many others visiting Puerto Peñasco on Thanksgiving 2024, this holiday is about more than food. The day and the weekend are mainly about making new memories at the beach and sharing good times with the people you know and love.
