“The circus is coming to town.” We can happily say that because for the 25th time it is coming to Puerto Peñasco, Sonora. While hard to believe, we are in fact coming up on the Circus Mexicus 25th Anniversary. All credit for that goes to Roger Clyne. Congratulations to him and the band on their music milestone.
The Circus Mexicus 25th Anniversary is a 4-day event which officially runs from Thursday June 6 to Sunday, June 9, 2024. The long weekend of festival dates is action-packed for long days and nights. Circus goers and partyers are filled with fun beginning during breakfast hours and they run all day long. It is a lively mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Get ready for lots of live music, dancing, drinking tequila, and more in the Circus Mexicus 2024 rocking of Rocky Point Mexico.

Various acts will take the stage to perform at multiple locations around town. The lineup of more than 25 musical acts features established bands as well as those considered up and coming. However, over 25 years one thing has not changed. The Circus Mexicus 25th Anniversary will be hosted and headlined by Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers.
Like what happens with many Americans in Rocky Point Mexico, Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers have made the seaside resort town its second or primary home. And in turn, Puerto Peñasco and its tourism community have embraced the band as one of its own.
Circus Mexicus History
History has multiple chapters here. First, it begins with the parents of Roger Clyne who used to visit Puerto Peñasco “back in the good old days.” When Roger was a boy, they would take him for camping trips on the beach. As Roger grew up, he made regular road trips to Rocky Point with his friends.
In his professional music career, Roger Clyne played in a band called The Refreshments. But the group broke up after their record label dropped them. Next, Roger opened the door to a great new opportunity. He formed Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers as the 1990s were coming to a close.
The Circus Mexicus 25th Anniversary came from humble beginnings. You see, it started because Roger went looking for a place in Puerto Peñasco to perform a concert. However, he was met with mostly deaf ears. Eventually, he booked the band at the Sunset Cantina which was across the street from the Peñasco del Sol Hotel.
Despite just two weeks’ notice, they packed in a crowd of 200 people. Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers rocked on a makeshift stage built with wooden pallets which had been on the roof.
Circus Mexicus continued at the Sunset Cantina for a handful of years. Then, it was booked at the Baja Cantina for a similar amount of time before settling at Bandito’s as its home base. NOTE: The Sonoran Sun Resort is a great place to stay for Circus Mexicus 2024 and beyond because it is within walking distance of Bandito’s.
Circus Mexicus 25th Anniversary Tickets
You will need to purchase tickets if you are looking to enjoy the Circus Mexicus 25th Anniversary festivities. General admission and VIP tickets are available in advance until June 5, 2024. You can buy them online at the Circus Mexicus website. Kids under 14 are admitted free with a paid adult ticket. There are also discounts for teens as well as Mexican Nationals.
