We have helpful information regarding the Sonoran Sun Hot Tubs. But first, we should acknowledge the tragic reason for sharing it. Two weeks ago, a heartbreaking incident killed a guest at the Sonoran Sea Resort. The victim was 43-year-old man, Jorge Guillen. He was visiting from El Paso, Texas. Reports claim he was allegedly electrocuted in an outdoor hot tub at the Sonoran Sea.
The announcement of lawsuits filed on behalf of the man’s wife, Lizette Zambrano, came within days. Thankfully, Lizette is recovering well from her life-threatening injuries. She is even actively sharing her story in various media interviews. Therefore, because of these and other reasons, we have no reason here to speculate on what may have happened at the Sonoran Sea Resort. It is simply not our business.
Keep in mind, the Sonoran Sea is a resort independently owned and operated by its Homeowner’s Association (HOA). Granted, it has been confusing to many in social media. This is because there are 4 properties developed by Sonoran Resorts. Yet, people seem to mix up similar names of separate beachfront resorts along Sandy Beach in Puerto Peñasco.
However, the Sonoran Sea Resort is not affiliated with the Sonoran Sun Resort. They are altogether uniquely, individual properties.
Sonoran Sun Resort Safety
Like everything at the resort, the Sonoran Sun hot tubs are owned and managed by its Homeowner’s Association (HOA). The Sun is blessed to have group leadership comprised of dedicated American and Mexican professionals. These men and women are committed to the best interests of owners, guests, and employees. In fact, various safety measures enacted here at the resort are usually “ahead of the curve.”
The Sonoran Sun HOA was wisely the first in Rocky Point Mexico to invest in a defibrillator. This potentially lifesaving device on site is maintained well within the recommended standards. Furthermore, the resort security staff is trained on how to use it, along with CPR. (And yes, they have had multiple experiences prove the value of such pre-emptive efforts to save lives).
Sonoran Sun Hot Tubs
The Sonoran Sun Resort HOA proactively switched its pool lighting system about six years ago. This of course included lighting for the Sonoran Sun hot tubs. Subsequently, expert electricians on the resort maintenance team converted the power to be operated by a 12 V system. To be clear, this is a low voltage system.
The change effectively avoids any major injury in a case of an electrical malfunction. In addition, all pool and hot tub equipment such as pumps and other devices are properly grounded and sealed. Furthermore, these systems are tested regularly and have been for the six years they have been functioning. In addition, in light of the Sonoran Sea tragedy, the Sonoran Sun HOA is adding an extra layer of safety protection. An independent, outside company is inspecting the Sonoran Sun hot tubs and pools.
Obviously, the summer heat is upon us in Puerto Peñasco. Accordingly, this means the jacuzzis are rarely used. I didn’t want any guests to jump to the conclusion there is something wrong with the Sonoran Sun hot tubs. There most definitely is not.
