The term “getaway” is used regularly with Rocky Point Mexico. On any given day, you can easily create or find your own reasons for this being true. However, for me today, taking in a Pelicans Sandy Beach Show did the trick.
I readily admit to being a strange duck when it comes to pelicans. I forever think of them because of “Finding Nemo.” Being a solo dad, this favorite movie of mine features a heroic dad searching for his son. In one scene at the ocean surface, Nemo’s search team comes dangerously close to being prey. He yells, “pelican!”
Furthermore, I like going to Pelican Point on Cholla Bay to watch the dinner activities at sunset. They are much like today’s Pelicans Sandy Beach Show.
Sandy Beach Fishing
Some Sonoran Sun owners on their way to breakfast had just visited my Sonoran Sun 510 East condo. As usual in Puerto Peñasco, the sun was shining. Meanwhile, Sandy Beach was basically empty. And speaking of morning visits, because of these great conditions I found it irresistible. I simply could not “get away” from taking a closer look at the Sea of Cortez.
Much to my surprise, there were many more birds than I’m used to seeing here. Therefore, I knew this meant there was likely plenty of fish in the area. Some birds were floating on the calm sea. Others were flying high and low. A few were heading west. More were flying eastbound. Overall, I found myself watching those big ones with a long beak. Happily, my vantage point was a last-minute front row seat to a Pelicans Sandy Beach Show.
Pelicans Making a Splash
While their takeoffs are awe inspiring, their crash landings are anything but. They crack me up. Kerplunk! The highlight of watching pelicans for me is how they typically make a big splash when they hit the water. I’m aware they have brakes. They just don’t use them. It is a whole lot different than the patience we humans generally must have on Rocky Point fishing trips.
Anyway, I have kept you waiting long enough. I hope you enjoy watching the video I put together of my surprise Pelicans Sandy Beach Show.
