Let’s go straight off the tee with this one. It is a golf story driven by NBC Sports. Did you know? Two of Mexico’s top options are Puerto Peñasco Golf Courses. Both are open to the public.
The Sonoran Sun Resort does not have a golf course. This is because we provide an intimate setting right on Sandy Beach. It is conveniently located on the west side of the town commonly known as Rocky Point Mexico. There are pools, a fun swim up bar, hot tubs, covered palapas, and plenty of lounge chairs with umbrellas. So, stay at the Sonoran Sun. Play a round on local golf courses.
Golfpass Lists Mexico’s Top 25 Public Golf Courses
Golfpass is an online membership program from NBC Sports. It is an effort to create a global community for those who love the sport. After all, the network has interests. It owns The Golf Channel and also broadcasts PGA Tour golf events.
GolfPass creates online content such as articles, exclusive videos, instruction, credits, and other perks. For $99 a year, it calls itself, “The very best of golf into one convenient, affordable membership.”
Jason Scott Deegan is the managing editor of Golfpass. He wrote a piece which summarized a “reader’s choice” report on the Top 25 Public Golf Courses in Mexico. If you consider how big Mexico is as a country, it is a pleasant surprise 2 of the top 25 are Puerto Peñasco Golf Courses. A big honor for such as small town.
The Links at Las Palomas Resort Golf Club
This course came in at #15 on the list. The Links at Las Palomas Golf Club is a 6,800 yard, 18-hole course. Par is 72. It is described in the piece as offering a challenging layout even after a good tee shot. The greens are medium speed and not bumpy. And the cost of greens fee was another selling point.
You have the opportunity to save money and stay very close by at the Sonoran Sun Resort. Doing so, could likely allow you to basically play a round of golf at Las Palomas for free because of what you save with your reservation. The drive is less than 5 minutes away. Playing this course is convenient and could still give you plenty of beach or pool time. Plus, golfers praise the speed of play at The Links at Las Palomas Golf Club.
Nicklaus Design Course at Vidanta Puerto Peñasco
Golf legend Jack Nicklaus and his son have set the standard for Puerto Peñasco Golf Courses. The Nicklaus Design Course at Vidanta Puerto Peñasco is a spectacular golf course in a spectacular Mexican beach setting. It is so nice you might not even mind scoring over the Par 72 expectations.
The layout receives high praise. Half of the time you will be playing golf along the beautiful Sea of Cortez. Meanwhile, the inland holes feature desert landscape, wildlife, and other gorgeous views. If you are a long hitter of the golf ball, the 7,200-yard length will surely get your attention. Hopefully, the interesting sand bunkers will not. Playing the Nicklaus Design Course at Vidanta Puerto Peñasco will also be the most expensive round in town. However, like the time aspect, it may be well worth it for you.
A round or two of golf can always be one of many reasons a visit to Rocky Point is always an idea to consider. If you want to enjoy life, a dose of Vitamin Sea at the Sonoran Sun and other fun is just what you deserve.
